The Prayer Stages of a Growing Disciple

Dear God, give me what I want.

Dear God, give me what I want and if I get what I want I will give you want.

Dear God, I will give you what you want and hope I get what I want.

Dear God, I will give you what you want, it does not matter what I get.

Dear God, I give you what you want.

  1. WOW this is amazing. This is difficult. But the more I love Jesus the more I want to go to the last stage. Right now I am mostly on "Dear God, I will give you what you want, it does not matter what I get" But I go back and forth between stage four and stage three "and hope I get what I want" Satan wants to pull me back to the previous stage. Also, I wish someone could explain to me what the difference is between stage four and the last stage. I sense that it may be about giving total control over to God and His will, and stage five (last stage) is letting God know that you will give all to Him and what He wants and fully honoring His will for your life.

  2. I just wanted to say that I think the second line or stage two should read "Dear God, give me what I want and if I get what I want I will give you what you want" and not "Dear God, give me what I want and if I get what I want I will give you want" It looks like there are some words accidentally missing. This is a great tool to think about your prayer life and to understand that to pray effectively that we must truly love God with all our heart and mind and soul and give all our love, and everything over to Him and His will for us.
